About
Once upon a wall…
RABA is a brand and webshop that promotes and prints the designs of African artists as posters, optionally framed. Their mission is to put African art and artists on the global map – creating jobs for artists, reinvesting in the local art scene, and making high-quality African art accessible through premium poster prints.
THE CHALLENGE
The RABA brand and webshop needed to be built from the ground up. Mission, vision and values needed to be explored and formulated. The brand identity needed to be strategised, with an eye on various target audiences and markets. The foundation had to be built from scratch before the platform could be established or social media channels could be optimised. RABA needed to differentiate itself from other popular poster webshops on the European market, in which Scandinavian designs are most sought after. RABA needed to bring forward an impact story, without perpetuating harmful stereotypes about Africa.
Our solution
- Complete brand strategy, including target audience and market research
- Brand book with visual brand identity, logo and tone of voice
- Visual brand assets and templates to create briefs, flyers, pitch decks or social media tiles.
- Designing and building a functional webshop in WooCommerce.
- Mock-up creation to showcase art pieces through Adobe programs.
- Marketing strategy to target both the Kenyan and European market.
- Executive marketing: influencer marketing, PR, social media, Google Ads, offline marketing (flyer and sticker design), e-mail marketing.
The Result
The result is a fully functional webshop and a strong brand of which we are currently building the online and offline brand presence. RABA became a brand that speaks to international audiences; while remaining easy to identify with by African artists. RABA sets itself apart from other international poster webshops in Europe by representing a different story. What story will your wall tell?
Collective Collaboration
For this project, we worked together with our collective creative Edwin Mwai, a multidisciplinary designer with a foundation in visual arts. This background has evolved into a more defined focus on industrial design, enriched by the application of human-centered thinking and strategic principles in his later years. Edwin Mwai co-designed the logo with Moonatic Agency.
Work cases
